15 Questions to Evaluate a Social Media Strategy

A great way to learn how to do something is by watching someone else do it. Whether they succeed or fail, you still learn something. Aside from videos, articles, and infographics, I learn a lot about social media marketing examining the campaigns of my favorite brands.

I use the following 15 questions to evaluate what I believe the campaign is doing well and where there is room for improvement.

  1. Which platforms are they using?
  2. Is there a platform they should be using but are not?
  3. Are they making the most of the platforms they're using?
  4. Who are they following?

Content
  1. How would you describe the content they provide? (Useful? Creative? Interactive?)
  2. How often do they post?
  3. Are they promoting anything currently? (e.g. new product, upcoming event)
  4. Is they're tone conversational or commercial?

  1. Do they respond to questions and comments?
  2. Is there a benefit to following them on social media?
  3. Would you want to follow them on multiple social networking sites?

  1. Are they easy to find on social media sites? From their website? Search engines?
  2. How do they handle negativity? (i.e. complaints, crises)
  3. What are they doing particularly well?
  4. What could they be doing better?

Using these questions as a guide, I plan to explore which practices work best and worst in digital media marketing strategies. What other questions should I be asking? Reply below with the questions you feel are missing from this list. Thanks for reading!
